Board Member Information

Our Meetings

  • The Executive Committee formed by the officers of EKFH meets at noon on the 1st Tuesday of every month
  • The Executive Committee may determine that no Board action is required for any scheduled meeting or that action can be deferred until the following month
  • The Board of Directors meets at noon on the 3rd Tuesday of every month (meetings are approximately 1 hour in length)
  • On occasion an evening meeting may be called subject to guest presenters

What We Do

  • Conjunctively work together to develop direction for fundraising & public awareness
  • Review and come to consensus on direction of initiatives - i.e. annual gifts, planned giving, special events, capital campaigns (IHA priority items)
  • Assess and come to consensus on distribution of funds from regional grant application events based on EKFH funds held in trust for the region
  • Make a difference in regional healthcare.... together, our hearts are in it
  • Build for the future through legacy giving by means of Planned Giving initiatives "our growth is in your hands"

The Board & Officer's Responsibilities

  • Prepare for each Board of Directors meeting by reviewing the meeting agenda and reading all material distributed prior to the meeting
  • Attend all regular and special Board meetings and participate in proceedings
  • Serve on at least one standing committee of the Board and actively participate in committee meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of current goals, objectives and programs of the Foundation
  • Contribute financially to, as well as in an active volunteer capacity with the Foundation
  • Solicit the financial contribution of others, including employers and friends
  • Share resources and talents with the organization including expertise, contracts for financial support and contracts for in-kind contributions
  • Serve as an advocate for the Foundation
  • Be accessible, at least by phone or Email, to the Executive Director and other Board members as needed
  • Fulfill commitments within the agreed upon deadlines
  • Represent the Board in a positive and supportive manner at all times and in all places
  • Keep the Board President informed about any community concerns or issues that are relevant to this Board
  • Hold in confidence any information given to the Board of Directors.
  • Take initiative and provide leadership
