History of EKFH

Formed in 1982, originally as the Cranbrook Hospital Foundation to raise funds for much needed healthcare equipment for the local Cranbrook Hospital.  When changes from local to regional healthcare arrived, the Foundation's Board of Directors approved of the regional concept and the inception of the Cranbrook Regional Hospital Foundation was borne. 

The Foundation's mandate continued to expand with the growth of the local hospital to the regional centre for the East Kootenays.  On May 27, 2003 the Foundation officially became known as East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH).
