What is Planned Giving
Planned Giving is charitable giving coordinated in concert with your overall financial and estate plans to ensure you receive the maximum tax benefit for your gift.
Planned gifts include both present gifts and deferred gifts with a mindset that maximizes the tax benefits of your gift, either now or to your estate, which then assists your other beneficiaries.
Planned giving uses strategies that work with you, and with your family, so that you support the areas of your choice while minimizing the after-tax cost of your donation.
Why Estate Planning
Including charitable giving in your estate planning allows you to off-set estate taxes. Often your charitable gift can be structured to ensure assets that transfer to your beneficiaries will have a minimum tax impact.
Estate Planning is essential, regardless of your age. If you are over the age of majority you are advised to have a valid, current will. An estate plan allows you to direct how your property is disposed of after death. Planning your estate ensures you minimize the tax burden on your estate and maximize the benefit to your beneficiaries.
