Phantom Event Strikes a Match for Community Hospital

Invermere, BC… The Columbia Valley’s most prestigious non-event, “The Phantom Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament”, launched in early September and has made its way into the hearts of sponsors, golfers and the communities of the Valley.

The unique charitable campaign is a creative way for Kootenay Savings and the East Kootenay Foundation for Health to carry on the tradition of the now-defunct annual Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament, while continuing to raise much-needed funds for the community hospital in Invermere.

An additional benefit of the phantom campaign is that Kootenay Savings, the signature sponsor, is matching each and every donation made from the start of the campaign right through to the end of November.

As of November 1, donations from past sponsors and players who loyally supported the golf tournament during its existence, as well as contributions from a number of new donors, have reached $5,596 – a total that doubles to $11,192 when matched by Kootenay Savings. If $15,000 is raised by month’s end the EKFH, as part of the annual Starlite Campaign, will recognize the achievement by lighting three stars at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in honour of all the generous donors.

“The Phantom Celebrating Health Care Golf Event is a very unique idea by Kootenay Savings and East Kootenay Foundation for Health. Even though there is no actual golf tournament, the opportunity to continue to donate to such a worthy cause like our Invermere Hospital, is a brilliant concept. We are proud to be a supporter of this unique event,” shares Village of Radium Hot Springs Mayor, Dee Conklin.

Donations can be made online at www.ekfh.ca, mailed to EKFH at 13 – 24th Ave N, Cranbrook, BC V1C 3H9 (cheque payable to East Kootenay Foundation for Health) or at any branch of Kootenay Savings. All donors will receive a charitable receipt, and will be recognized on donor boards in Kootenay Savings’ Invermere and Radium Hot Springs branches as well as the Invermere Hospital.

All proceeds from the Phantom event are stewarded by EKFH and dedicated to either medical equipment or patient comforts at the Invermere Hospital.

The Phantom from the Celebrating Health Care non-event golf tournament appears to have stopped in to take a few lessons from the enthusiastic staff at the Invermere branch of Kootenay Savings.
