“Share A Bear” Brings Furry Cheer to EKRH

Submitted by EKFH on 19-12-2012

Cranbrook, BC… The bears are back, each year during the holiday season, BC Liquor Stores customers purchase twin teddy bears for $11 and then ‘share’ one of the bear twins with a local community charity. In Cranbrook, the East Kootenay Foundation for Health receives the furry critters and distributes them to areas in the hospital for young and old who may pay a visit to the regional hospital over the holidays.

The plush caramel-and-cream twin bears are guaranteed to be a hit and this year the Orthopedic Department, Ambulatory Care and the Diagnostic Imaging/Nuclear Medicine Unit will have the honour of distributing the bears.

Last year more than 27,000 bears were donated to families with children in need and more than 400,000 bears have been donated by the BC Liquor Stores since the program began in 1989.

Bears can be purchased at all BC Liquor Stores across the province.
