Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary celebrates 70 Years of supporting health care with a $150,000 donation to East Kootenay Foundation for Health

East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) is proud to share another generous donation from the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary Society (KHCA). This fall, the society is donating $150,000 to EKFH. $10,000 of the donation will go towards furniture upgrades for residents at the Pines in Kimberley. The remaining $140,000 will go to the Warm Embrace campaign, raising funds for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

EKFH is continuously thankful for the hard work and continuous dedication of the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary. Since their inception in 1953, when a group of 50+ women organized the “Women’s Auxiliary to the Hospital Board” to serve Kimberley and district in support of medical care, the society has contributed millions to health care. This includes nearly $900,000 donated to EKFH in the last fifteen years. Their tireless support has upgraded medical equipment, improved patient care, and saved countless lives across the region.

EKFH Executive Director, Brenna Baker said, “Thank you is not enough for the wonderful team at the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary. They work so hard and give so much to not only Kimberley, but the entire East Kootenay. They really, truly are making a difference in Health Care and we are so proud to be partners with them!”

The Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary is 100% volunteer based. Their team of 140 members run two fantastic Thrift Stores in Kimberley and Marysville and the medical equipment Loan Cupboard. They are always welcoming new members to join the integral part of the East Kootenay healthcare community.
