RBC Foundation presents gift of $10,000 for Bone Densitometry

Submitted by EKFH on 16-04-2010 Cranbrook, BC… RBC’s funding support will purchase forearm software for the existing bone densitometry equipment currently on site at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Details:  Donna Grainger, EKFH Executive Director, Arlene Hildebrandt, IH Professional Practice Leader and Darren Sutton, Nuclear Medicine Technologist (far right) share a smile while accepting a $10,000 major gift donation from Merv Anderson, RBC Community Market Manager Cranbrook/Kimberley and representative for the RBC Foundation.

This software is recommended by the The International Society for Clinical Densitometry and enables the diagnostic technologists to scan an alternate site rather than the normal two.  These types of scans are very critical for patients who may have had a hip replacement, suffer from osteoarthritis and more.

The addition of the software allows for preventive tracking for patients who undergo regular bone densitometry scans and allows the technologist a better opportunity to determine the exact impacts on a patient’s bone structure.

East Kootenay Foundation for Health recognizes the amazing support of the RBC Foundation in providing funding for many pieces of equipment and/or software that are critical to the technical areas of the regional hospital.  The RBC donations over the past two years have provided software for the operating room, emergency department and now the Diagnostic Imaging unit.   If you are considering a donation to health care please visit us on-line at www.ekfh.ca; donate now.
