Welcome to new EKFH Director – Russ Colombo

Submitted by EKFH on 22-07-2013

Russ is a long time Kootenay resident, originally from Creston and a resident of Cranbrook since 1969.

He knows the area well and is aware of many of the needs and wishes of the local people.  He is a civil and structural engineering technologist and has been involved in numerous projects, including new highway and railway grade and bridge construction, commercial building construction.  Russ spent 20 years as Facilities Manager for the College of the Rockies starting with the original construction of the campus in 1980.

He brings a background of project design, administration, supervision, quality and budget control, as well as facility operations and maintenance.  These days he doesn’t get up before 7:00 A.M. and enjoys the days fishing, woodworking, gardening and travelling with his wife Joy.

As a member of the board of EKFH Russ hopes to help broaden public knowledge and participation in the worthwhile objectives of the foundation.

He feels there is a need to enhance the presence of EKFH in all of the East Kootenay communities; to demonstrate that donations are shared equitably throughout the region in all areas of health care; to encourage local volunteerism, and to ensure that money is directed to each project with minimal administration cost.
