Better Together – JoeAnna’s House Expansion

If someone you love were rushed to Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) tomorrow, could you follow?

For many families across the East Kootenays, that answer depends on a place like JoeAnna’s House. The house is a sanctuary for families who must travel to Kelowna while a loved one receives life-saving medical care at KGH. Just steps away from the hospital, the house provides affordable accommodation, but also a sense of support, community, and relief for the caretakers. Staying at JoeAnna’s House helps hundreds of families from our region save thousands of dollars each during extended medical stays, many of which are unexpected and unplanned for.

Over the past 18 months, the 20-room house has had a constant waitlist. Over 1,000 families in crisis have been turned away, left scrambling to find other accommodation, some of whom can’t afford it. The need is growing. That’s why we’re working urgently with the KGH Foundation to raise the funds needed to build a 10-room expansion on the home to alleviate the waitlist, and welcome more families during their darkest days.
