Help complete the JoeAnna’s House Expansion this Spring

April 28, 2026

We’re into our final push for the JoeAnna’s House Expansion and it has been incredible seeing your support coming in from across the East Kootenay and through our partner foundations across Interior BC for this amazing space through the campaign so far!

JoeAnna’s House is a Home Away from Home for families while their loved ones receive care at Kelowna General Hospital.

Just steps away from the hospital, the house provides affordable accommodation, but also a sense of support, community, and relief for the caretakers. Staying at JoeAnna’s House helps hundreds of families from our region save thousands of dollars each during extended medical stays, many of which are unexpected and unplanned for.

Since opening in 2019, JoeAnna’s house has been home to 675 families from the East Kootenay. 1% of the entire population of Cranbrook and 3% of the population of Creston have stayed at JoeAnna’s House. The average stay length for East Kootenay residents at the home is around ten nights per stay and the longest consecutive stay record held by an East Kootenay resident is 144 nights.

Unfortunately, the home has had a constant waitlist in recent years. Over 1,000 families in crisis have been turned away, left scrambling to find other accommodation, some of whom can’t afford it.

The ten-bed expansion currently underway and scheduled for completion in August 2026 will help reduce this waitlist and add much needed new space to JoeAnna’s House.

You can help us finish off the expansion with a donation to our Better Together Campaign this spring. Learn more and donate at: ekfh.ca/campaigns/joeannas-house/
