East Kootenay Telus Community Ambassadors donate $1107 to Hospice Home
January 19, 2026
This Starlite Season, the East Kootenay Telus Community Ambassadors donated $1107 towards the project to build a standalone hospice home in the East Kootenay. The project, led by the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society, will create a comfortable space away from the hospital for end-of-care in the region.
The Community Ambassadors are a volunteer group of retired and current telephone employees. The East Kootenay group is one of eleven clubs that cover all areas of British Columbia.
Their goal is to assist local groups who make life better for those who are less fortunate in our community. Their community work includes providing baby bags for newborns and premature babies in regional hospitals, providing backpacks and supplies to schools, and sharing birthday chocolates and a monthly cake with residents of the FW Green Long Term Care Home.
Telus Community Ambassador initiatives are funded locally by garage sales and provincially by the Telus Friendly Future Foundation. Funds from the Telus Future Foundation are split equally between the eleven provincial clubs. Each year, the East Kootenay club donates their portion towards one of EKFH’s current health care projects. This year they have elected to support the Hospice Home.
EKFH is grateful to have the support of the Telus Community Ambassadors as we start off the hospice home project in partnership with the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society. Our goal is to ensure that families have a quiet, peaceful place for end-of-life care in an environment that is gentle, peaceful, and full of dignity for saying final goodbyes.
