Key City Old-Timers Hockey Club makes 1st Starlite Gift
Cranbrook, BC… It’s truly amazing to think that even when hockey rinks don’t have ice surfaces down, organizations like the Key City Old-timers Hockey Club are still busy with activities with their 120+ members.
The recreation hockey league (35+ men’s) recently hosted their annual golf tournament. The tourney always takes a charitable spin and this year the members unanimously selected EKFH’s Starlite Campaign to be the recipient of their fundraising efforts.
Jonathan Butt, representative for the group dropped into EKFH’s office this week to present a gift of $2,000 the first official gift of the 2015 Starlite Campaign. The donation is being directed to EKFH’s unrestricted fund and will be focused toward purchasing minor equipment items from a large list of needs from Interior Health community wellness programs.
EKFH’s 8th annual Starlite Campaign is raising funds for regional and community health programs. These programs are dedicated to helping those with arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, respiratory needs, and more or may require help with chronic disease management, home nursing, in-home oxygen, wound, senior, pediatric and self-care programs. More often than not these programs have smaller equipment needs. However the impact those pieces of equipment and patient education tools can deliver through these programs can often help people who wouldn’t have had anywhere else to turn to for assistance.
The Starlite Campaign runs from November 27 – January 31, 2016 and has set a fundraising goal is to raise $145,000 and light 17 large stars ($5,000 per star) and 24 small stars ($2,500 per star).
