Stars On the ICE, Making a Difference for EKFH!

Cranbrook, BC… The game plan for the November 20th Kootenay ICE game against Moose Jaw will be about enjoying some great hockey while raising funds for a great cause.

Fans attending the November 20th game will be able to purchase a (numbered) foam star from EKFH representatives before the game and through to almost the end of the 2nd period. Immediately following the second period of play, those fans that do purchase a star will be urged to toss it toward the center ice face-off circle.  This fundraiser for EKFH 8th Annual Starlite Campaign is thanks to a partnership with the Kootenay Ice organization and Snap’d East Kootenay.

Chris Wahl, Director of Sales & Public Relations for the Kootenay ICE states; ““The Kootenay ICE organization is proud to join forces with its hockey community to help give back and support those who need it most.”

EKFH’s 8th annual Starlite Campaign is raising funds for regional and community health programs – EKFH’s fundraising goal is to raise $145,000 and light 17 large stars ($5,000 per star) and 24 small stars ($2,500 per star).  These programs are dedicated to helping those with arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, respiratory needs, and more or may require help with chronic disease management, home nursing, in-home oxygen,  wound,  senior, pediatric  and self-care programs.  More often than not these programs have smaller equipment needs.  However the impact those pieces of equipment and patient education tools can deliver through these programs can often help people who wouldn’t have had anywhere else to turn to for assistance.

“So on November 20th, come on out to Western Financial Place to watch some hockey, meet your EKFH representatives, and support a great cause!  In turn, fans get to watch their favourite players and rising stars of tomorrow in their own backyard, and the money raised supports vital community health  care programs and equipment,” states Patricia Whalen, Assistant Executive Director, EKFH.

We encourage all Kootenay ICE fans to support the Kootenay ICE. This organization has a soft spot for many non-profit organizations in Cranbrook so please thank them and show your support by attending their games.
