Beneath The Surface – bringing Ultrasound to the Columbia Valley

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has a new campaign this winter. Beneath the Surface is fundraising $340,000 to bring ultrasound service to the Invermere and District Hospital. The costs will include a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, renovations to the room, and all the technology and accessories required to run the service.

Having ultrasound at the Invermere hospital has been a long-awaited addition that will save Columbia Valley residents from travel to East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook for this service. It will be a major improvement for health care in the valley.

Ultrasound allows physicians to see inside a patient’s body and understand the nature of a patient’s symptoms. It provides vital information which can help guide treatment. Ultrasound technology is a critical cornerstone of medicine and patient care. The images captured provide physicians with a wealth of information, including the structure and composition of internal organs, tissues and vessels.

Ultrasound is performed on every type of patient, in every area of care. Whether you are a pregnant mother, an elderly person having breathing problems, or a child with abdomen pains, ultrasound can help diagnose and treat a patient.

Together we are bringing better health care close to home in the East Kootenay!

In Memory

A Gift in Memory is a special way for family and friends to express their sympathy while helping to advance healthcare in the community and beyond.

Many people choose to make these gifts in lieu of flowers.

If you wish to include East Kootenay Foundation for Health or one of the health care funds and facilities that we support in an obituary, an example of wording can be:

“in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health in support of (health care facility or area of interest)”.

Donations may be made in memory by checking the “I would like to dedicate this gift” option on our online donation form. You can also mail donations to us with a short note indicating the name of the person you wish to honour to 13 24th Ave N, Cranbrook BC, V1C 3H9, or donate over the phone by calling 250-489-6481.

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health will acknowledge all donations given in memory by sending a note to the next of kin with an expression of sympathy.
