3 of Diamonds Hoedown brings in $17,000 for A Clear View

Cranbrook, BC… East Kootenay Foundation for Health is proud to announce that last week’s 3 of Diamonds Hoedown event sponsored by Dr. & Mrs. Bill & Cathy Newsome and Jeannie Argatoff of Blue Sky Realty are bringing the good fortune of $17,000 in additional funding to the A Clear View ~ a digital mammography campaign.

The event and inaugural one held in the new St. Eugene Mission Resort Pavilion brought out the best in people wishing to take part in the fight against breast cancer. Guests arriving at the Pavilion were fully clad in their best cowgirl and cowboy duds including many assorted cowboy hats, chaps, square dance dresses with one outstanding and very attractive saloon girl dressed in her best attire and plumage.

The light and airy feeling brought on by the beautiful new Pavilion definitely had an impact on those in attendance as the willingness to purchase tickets and auction items made up for the majority of the $17,000 gift.

“When we first started out to do this event we were thinking of doing something fun that would also help out the A Clear View campaign. We are just amazed at the response from the community with prizes, the # of tickets sold, the generosity of those who bid on items and the hospitality of the St Eugene Mission Resort. To raise $17,000 for a digital stereotactic mammography unit is just spectacular,” shares an excited Jeannie Argatoff and Cathy Newsome, co-organizers of the Hoedown.

The evening featured a chance to win $1,000 from the always popular Frank Sandor Treasure Chest, a very tasty Bull River BBQ from the Chefs at St Eugene and some fantastic music compliments of the 3 of Diamonds band from Bozeman, Montana which kept the dance floor busy all night with two-stepping and line dancing lessons thrown in at the start of each set.

This latest donation is one of many lead gifts that are setting a significant pace on the way to East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s public launch of the campaign on October 3 at 1:30 pm at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. At that time EKFH will introduce the faces of the A Clear View campaign as well as announcing its current fundraising status toward the 2-year, $1 million goal.

East Kootenay Foundation for Health would like to acknowledge the contributions of the sponsors Bill & Cathy Newsome and Jeannie Argatoff for taking on the task of putting on such an exciting event. Hats off also to Frank Sandor, Fort Steele Farms and the St Eugene Mission Resort for their generous support. To Jay Savage for a great job as MC and auctioneer and last but not least to the Hoedown volunteers (too many to name but you know who you are) for all the hard work before, during and after the event.
