Happy Starlite Season!

This year, we’re asking our East Kootenay community to help make a life-saving difference. The East Kootenay Foundation for Health is proud to launch our 2026 Starlite Campaign: a $1,000,000 mission to bring a state-of-the-art 3Dimensions Mammography System with Artificial Intelligence to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Why now? Because when it comes to breast cancer, every moment matters. Our current mammography equipment is nearing the end of its life. We have an opportunity to replace it with advanced technology designed to provide clearer 3D images, support earlier detection, improve diagnostic efficiency and enhance the screening experience for patients across our region.

This campaign is about so much more than a piece of medical equipment. It’s about a mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend. It’s about the person who makes an appointment because they know early detection matters. It’s about finding something sooner. It’s about giving doctors the information they need sooner. And ultimately, it’s about giving more people the best possible chance to receive treatment sooner and return to the people who love them.

Earlier detection can mean earlier treatment. Earlier treatment can mean better outcomes. And better outcomes can mean more birthdays, more milestones, more family dinners and more memories together.
