8th Annual BluMoose Golden Gravel supporting Golden & District Hospital

April 21, 2026

The BluMoose Golden Gravel is returning to Golden for another year! The 8th annual ride in support of the Golden & District Hospital will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2026.

The ride starts and finishes at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Routes follow the valley with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, the Purcell Mountains and the Columbia Valley Wetlands. Riders have the choice between the 100km Parson Route, the 200km Brisco Route or the 300km Radium Route. Aid Stations will be available to all riders for all distances every 50km.  A variety of sandwiches, fruits, snacks, soft drinks and water will be provided. Riders from all over North America come to Golden to take part in one of the most scenic gravel bike races in the world.

The BluMoose first started in 2019 to raise charitable funds in memory of Danya Leemhuis who died in an accident on March 9, 2018. The Golden and Kicking Horse communities were a hugely important part of Danya’s life.

Registration for the ride is limited to 200 participants and can be secured through a $200 donation to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health in support of the hospital. Since 2019, the ride has raised over $150,000 towards local health care. Funds from last year’s ride will be used to support the upcoming addition of a much-needed second portable ultrasound for the hospital.

“We are deeply grateful for the generous support of BluMoose. Adrian and Lorraine’s ongoing commitment has made a meaningful impact, enabling the Golden and District Hospital to acquire critical equipment that would not otherwise have been possible.” – Brenna Hong, EKFH Executive Director.
