“Bust a Move Dance” A Family Event for A Clear View

Submitted by EKFH on 27-03-2012

Kimberley, BC… Bring on Spring fever by gathering up the family, digging out your dancing shoes and coming out to a Bust a Move Dance event in support of the A Clear View ~ digital mammography campaign.

This creative fundraiser comes in support of East Kootenay Foundation for Health from Kimberley’s Marlana Realini and her organizing team. It is Marlana’s role as the assistant to general surgeons Dr. Abdul Aleem and Dr. Peter Chong that inspired her to get involved.

Marlana explains, “In my work life, I have a close connection to many individuals who have received a breast cancer diagnosis. I coordinate the appointments for surgical biopsies with these talented surgeons. In hearing many of the patients’ stories it encouraged me personally to reach out and create something that would help raise donations to bring this equipment to the regional hospital.”

On April 21 from noon to 4:00 pm the McKim School Gym (Kimberley) will host the Bust A Move Dance; a fun for the whole family event which includes dancing to various decades of DJ music accompanied by the arrival of special guests from the Kimberley Dynamiters, the Northstar Figure Skaters and the Kimberley Dance Academy. You can also participate in an energizing one-hour Zumba class with certified Zumba instructor Sue Inshaw.

Admission is by donation and attendees are encouraged to bring lots of loonies for prize and 50/50 draws.

So if the winter cobwebs need dusting off and the family feels like trying the shimmy shimmy shake (yes, we just dated ourselves) the Bust a Move Dance is for you.

All proceeds go toward the 2-year, $1 million fundraising goal to bring a digital stereotactic mammography unit to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
