CRANBROOK TIM HORTONS SMILE COOKIE CAMPAIGNS SURPASSES $57,000

Cranbrook, BC– It’s been eight years since proceeds from the sale of chunky chocolate deliciousness of Tim Hortons Smile Cookies was focused at supporting health care at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

For Matt Gareau and his family, franchise owners for the two Cranbrook outlets, last week’s efforts by the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary, East Kootenay Foundation for Health and the Tim Hortons staff resulted in over 10,500 cookies being sold equivalent to $10,500 to the CHCA and EKFH to purchase two phlebotomy chairs for the ambulatory care department and a broda chair for the 3rd floor.

The good news doesn’t stop there as the 2013 campaign concludes, total donations accumulated with the cookie campaign results from 2005 through last week highlights Cranbrook Tim Hortons ongoing commitment and recognized financial support equaling $57,955.

“What originally started out as a smaller campaign in 2005 has just grown into something that our family never could have believed could happen. To reach a milestone of over $57,000 for our regional hospital is just incredible and we are proud to put our support behind the auxiliary and foundation,” explains Matt.

Over the years the cookies have helped fund many pieces of equipment and areas of care including the general medical floors, ophthalmology, intensive care, physiotherapy, diagnostic imaging and the emergency department.

The 2013 campaign was overwhelming successful in several ways with record breaking sales of cookies in the regional hospital lobby by members of the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary (doubling their sales set the year before ~ can you believe 3,354 cookies in a week?); charitable cookie giving of cased lots by directors & supporting donors of the East Kootenay Foundation to other local charities; the enthusiasm and energy from the managers and staff at Tim Hortons and assistance from players (Jagger Dirk and Wyatt Hoflin) from the Kootenay ICE pouring coffee… the cookies are not the only ones with smiles.

But truly the biggest reason behind this accomplishment is you, the public, who support the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign every year. Thanks to all you cookie lovers ~ big or tall, large or small ~ you make miracles happen for our regional hospital.

CHCA and EKFH wish to give their sincerest gratitude to Tim Hortons for their ongoing support.
