Gone but not Forgotten – BC Hydro Memorial Tourney donates $1,275

Submitted by EKFH on 13-10-2011

Details: Ian Kozicky, BC Hydro Transmission Field Manager and Linda Berukoff, EKFH Chair (and former Hydro employee) take a moment to remember Rob Lehmann at the recognition site outside the local Hydro office.

Mr. Lehmann and Dirk Rozenboom were two Hydro employees that tragically lost their lives in a four-person helicopter crash in May 2008.

Since the accident Ian has spearheaded an annual BC Hydro Memorial Charity Golf tournament in recognition of the two and the charities chosen by their families; the East Kootenay Foundation for Health and the East Kootenay SPCA.

This year to honour Rob Lehmann, the tournament organizers decided to dedicate half the event’s proceeds ($1,275) to East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s A Clear View – digital mammography campaign. An equal amount was also donated to the East Kootenay SPCA.

The campaign which recently celebrated its October 3rd public launch has raised just over $508,000 toward the goal of $1 million in two years to bring a digital stereotactic mammography unit to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Since its initiation, the BC Hydro Golf Tournament honouring the memory of Rob Lehmann has donated over $6,000 for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
