Jerseys for A Clear View

Submitted by EKFH on 05-03-2012

Cranbrook, BC…. East Kootenay Foundation for Health and the Kootenay ICE organization have had a long standing relationship working together to raise funds for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Over the years many different players have also taken a personal involvement with EKFH and this spring, just in time for the ICE’s next playoff run, five former ICE Alumni are once again giving back for the benefit of health care.

Through the power of social media, in this case Facebook, EKFH has been able to raise the awareness of its major capital campaign (A Clear View – digital mammography) and to also highlight events and successes along the way.

It is also by Facebook that brought Brayden McNabb, Matt Fraser, Cody Eakin, James Martin and Kevin King to EFKH Executive Director Donna Grainger with an idea of donating their current NHL or AHL jersey to benefit the breast cancer fundraising initiative.

Thanks to these amazing ICE alumni their jerseys will be up for auction at the March 29ICE home playoff game. Representatives from East Kootenay Foundation for Health will have the jerseys on display and up for auction in section U.

• Matt Fraser, Texas Stars (signed)
• Brayden McNabb, Buffalo Sabres (signed)
• Cody Eakin, Washington Capitals (team signed)
• James Martin, Abbotsford Heat (unsigned)
• Kevin King, Syracuse Crunch (unsigned)

All proceeds from the jerseys are being dedicated toward EKFH’s 2-year, $1 million fundraising campaign to bring a digital stereotactic mammography unit to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Thanks to the kids of Kootenay ICE coaches Kris Knoblauch & Todd Johnson and Office Manager Elli Harpelle for helping to showcase the jerseys (L-R) Marek Knoblauch, Eli Johnson, Brooke Harpelle, Charlotte Harpelle, Natelli Harpelle join EKFH Director Brian Clifford and grandson Dane Atwood.
