The EKFH Not Alone Campaign receives an unexpected early Christmas Gift!

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) kicked off their 2020 Starlite Campaign November 1st in support of Foundry East Kootenay. Thank you to the generous donations of individuals and businesses the campaign has raised over $200,000 towards their $1.4 million goal.

Foundry East Kootenay will be a walk-in health and wellness centre for youth ages 12-24 seeking help, primarily for mental health and substance use. Services such as primary care, counselling, substance use and peer support will be brought together with social services that include employment and education resources under one roof. For youth there will be no waitlists. No having to repeat their story multiple times. They will access help the day they walk through the doors.

  • 300,000 youth in BC – 1 in 5 – need mental health or substance use services
  • Of those, as few as 25% receive the care they need
  • Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people in Canada
  • 75% of mental illness begins before age 25

The truth is we are losing our youth to suicide and overdose. We need to make help easily accessible to youth and their families and Foundry East Kootenay is the solution!

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health and Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) are excited to announce a matching donation opportunity. All donations received today up until January 15th will be doubled up to $100,000! A very generous donor has stepped up to help the EKFH and KKCFSS reach their goal so we can get the doors open on Foundry East Kootenay sooner! So make a donation today and see that number double!
