WINDERMERE, BC…    The dedication to raising funds for the Invermere Hospital emergency department received another special gift this past week.  Members of the long-time running Windermere Health Care Auxiliary pooled their resources to make a $4,928 donation to purchase four wall-mounted diagnostic sets.

These four new sets will be mounted in the ER and will accompany existing units already located in the hospital.

A wall-mounted diagnostic sets play host to various scopes and cuffs to allow the medical team to assess a patient’s blood pressure, temperature and to also exam eyes, ears, nose, throat and reflexes.  This type of health care equipment is not often considered ?bright & sexy’ however it is one of the most necessary when considering the status of a patient’s condition.

President Sharyn Schmidt of the Windermere Health Care Auxiliary shares, “Our Auxiliary has over 50 years of service and dedication to the hospital’s palliative care unit.  However, we are extremely proud to be a part of the legacy of raising funds for our new emergency department.”

The Windermere Health Care Auxiliary is now preparing to work with East Kootenay Foundation for Health and the Kootenay Savings Credit Union on the 3rd and final Celebrating Health Care Golf Tournament, Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Copper Point Ridge Course.  All proceeds will go to the benefit of the emergency department.
