Campaign’s lead donor: Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary $250,000

Submitted by EKFH on 17-08-2011

Details: Recognizable by their blue smocks and helpful attitude, volunteers of the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary can be found serving the public at its 8th Avenue Thrift Shop, on the frontline in almost every department of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, or in the hospital gift shop.

Their contribution goes beyond service, too.   The CHCA’s dedication to providing funds for the regional hospital are also exceptional as demonstrated by the Auxiliary’s lead donor gift of $250,000 to the upcoming A Clear View ~ a digital mammography campaign.     The current mammography unit is eleven years old and utilizes soon to be out-of-date film technology. The current unit also does not allow minimally invasive image guided biopsy.   The arrival of a new digital stereotactic mammography unit will help the East Kootenay Regional Hospital become a centre of excellence in breast cancer screening and diagnostics.   This is the campaign’s largest contribution to date, thanks to an overwhelming vote of support from 250+ members to dedicate funds from the legacy gift of former auxiliary member Ethel Zentner to the campaign.     A Clear View ~ a digital mammograpy $1-million fundraising campaign needs your help – to make a financial contribution to the fight against breast cancer please visit www.ekfh.ca.   -30-     L-R:  Karen Wreggett, Ann Flegel, Pat Bailey, Chris Shumka (IH Health Services Director, Acute Care), CHCA President Sandy Zeznik holding photo of Ethel Zentner, Dr. Kang Ming-Zhu (Radiologist EKRH – Medical Director), Rachel Christie, Geraldine White, Audrey Bleaney, Lies de Boer
