Submitted by EKFH on 22-07-2013

Sheilah is a retired educator who worked many years for School District #5 as a teacher, vice-principal, principal and director of instruction.   After leaving SD #5 she worked as an instructor and practicum supervisor for the University of Victoria. She holds a B.Ed. and an M.Ed.   Some personal honours include Woman of the Year, Rotarian of the Year and Rick Hansen Difference Maker.

Sheilah has served on the United Way Baord and the Cranbrook & District Restorative Justice Board.  her involvement with Rotary has included a term as club president and a 3-year term as District 5080 Assistant Governor.

She is actively involved with the Mt. Zion Lutehran Church having served for several years as congregational leader.  She is the fundraiser and shopper for the monthly breakfast club which is an initiative of the United, Anglican, Baptist and Luterhan churches.

Sheilah feels her role on the EKFH board is to work as part of the team to continue to maintain relationships with auxiliaries, service clubs, other foundations and with Interior Health personnel.

She believes EKFH’s main purpose is to improve health care by providing funding for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and all other health care facilities in the East Kootenay.

The maintenance of an extremely low administration and fundraising cost is of paramount importance.

Initiatives such as annual gifts, planned giving, special events, capital campaigns and grant applications are essential to complementing health care in the region.

Sheilah Moore accompanied by hubby Warren share at smile at EKFH’s recent AGM.
