Health Care Non-Profits partner up in support of EKRH ICU and Emergency Department

February 25, 2025

The Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary and East Kootenay Foundation for Health have partnered up to purchase 2 new portable ultrasounds for the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

The two ultrasounds are state of the art technology and have the most up to date software. They keep patients from having to be transported from the ICU and Emergency Departments to medical imaging for results. This saves time, space, and provides quicker results to physicians. It is a wonderful improvement for staff and patients that will help save lives.

Each unit costs over $71,000. Funding has been provided through the fundraising activities of both health care non-profits to complete their purchase.

The Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary members are all volunteers who work to raise money to purchase medical equipment at EKRH through their Thrift and Gift shops and donations. On behalf of CHCA President, Linda Foster “we are very thankful to our community who continue to support the auxiliary in its mission.”

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health supports health care for five hospitals, three health centres, five long term care homes, and community health programming across the region. “We are so thankful for our donors. This project was made possible because of the generosity of donors who have received excellent care in the ICU. We also thank our health care workers for the amazing job they do every single day!” said EKFH Executive Director, Brenna Baker.
