Cranbrook Legion donates 2023 Poppy Fund to East Kootenay Palliative Care Family Room

March 14, 2024

The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, in Cranbrook donated $15,000 to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health at their monthly Seniors Day Event in February. The donation will go towards purchasing new furniture in the family room in Palliative Care at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The family room is an important area that provides a comfortable space for family members of those in palliative care, meaning they do not need to leave the hospital during one of the most difficult times they may face.

The Legion’s funds come from the 2023 Poppy Fund. The Poppy Fund is supported through the Poppy Campaign conducted in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Day. It helps many community organizations, including EKFH. The Legion has been a huge supporter of EKFH’s projects over the years, donating to many different projects that benefit our veterans and their families, along with many other people in the East Kootenay health region.
